Water-Mist
A water mist system is a fire protection method that uses high-pressure water and specialised sprinkler spray heads to produce extremely fine water droplets, typically ranging from 50 to 300µm, depending on the system design. This significantly increases the water’s surface area, allowing for much smaller water supply quantities compared to a standard sprinkler system.
Advantages of Water Mist?
When compared to gaseous agents and traditional sprinkler systems, water mist fire suppression offers several advantages:
- Instant activation
- Highly effective in suppressing various fire types
- Minimal water damage
- Environmentally friendly
- No toxic concerns
Water mist technology has advanced to the point where it can even safeguard IT data rooms and electronic facilities without risking damage to the equipment. This also negates the need to complete room sealing and annual Room Integrity Testing. Water mist systems are commonly supplied by tank and pump or cylinder-based setups.
APG Compliance ensures that all their Water Mist suppression systems are designed, installed, commissioned, and maintained in compliance with the standards BS 8458:2015, BS 8489-1:2016, and BS 8489-7:2016.
