Pre-Action Sprinklers
Pre-Action sprinklers are operated by a valve system which is activated by a detection system such as a smoke detector. On activation the valve opens allowing the water to flow through the pipes dousing the fire.
Why use Pre-Action Sprinklers
Pre-action sprinkler systems are a type of fire sprinkler system that is used in commercial properties with valuables that could be damaged by water, such as museums and communication equipment rooms. These systems are designed to minimise the risk of water release by requiring two events to occur before water is released: activation of the pre-action valve and activation of a sprinkler head.
This two-fold process helps to prevent accidental activation of the system, which could cause serious damage to the valuables in the protected area.
All installations by APG Compliance are certified to BS 9251. (BS 9251: Fire sprinkler systems for domestic and residential occupancies. Code of practice.)
